Last And Final Practical!!

When I first started EIR, I came across some what I though were irrelevant stuff such as Twitter and Blogger. My first thought was "Hmm.. What has these got to do with research?

Over some time, I figured out that those were useful as well! I learnt that Twitter was actually mini blogging and allow us to know personal views of a topic.

Also, when I'm using Google search now, I tend to use the OR function. Many times during research for other subjects, many articles cannot be found easily by my other group members. But when I take over the research part during projects, I find that I can find articles very easily, sometimes even the perfect ones in the top 3 results.

Do You All Know Where Is This?

It HAWAII!!!! I like beach and i find it fun to play on beach... Coz i always wanted to be a beach boy!!

This place is at Hawaii, Kapalua Bay Beach,Maui. The place is nice with golden sand, swaying palms, calm waters. What more can you ask for? It’s just another day in paradise on this West Maui pocket beach. Situated between two lava points and bordered by a coconut tree grove, Kapalua is known for its tranquil surf, ideal for the less-than-adventurous swimmer.

Practical 7 Reflection

I have used coverage, authority, accuracy, currency, accessibility, presentation and arrangement, usability and overall quality.Coverage is minimal. Most STOMPers go on the principle of no action, talk only. STOMPers may not have the authority to take certain videos or pictures of people Many of them invade privacy for the sake of getting their video, and in the end they get flamed by other STOMPers. News may not be accurate at all.

They are posted in the view of the STOMPer only and some of them try to be funny in the wrong ways. However, all news are updated everyday. There are too many ads and picture links all over the site which makes it very distracting. The style of writing however will be different for all STOMPers. Some may even post many irrelevant posts about other countries, or irrelevant issues that aren't important in daily life, causing online "pollution".

I have learnt through this activity that some websites which are touted to be the most current or the best may not actually be one. The typical internet surfer may not know what it takes for a website to be rated well but through this activity, I have learnt how to evaluate a website properly. Many factors are taken into account which includes the user of the webgsite in this case.

Sharing of views on Wiki i find it good, as other can filled up the blank on what you didn't get to research on that particular parts. And it good that it really build up some knowleadge from what other views... But some might be not truth, so cant really totally believe on it...

Practical 6 Reflection

I believe that invisible web (databases) has it's own advantages and disadvantages as compared to search engines, meta-search engines or subject directories. Databases allows get information mainly on newspaper articles or journals from credible sources such as world newspapers or famous schools in the world.

We have TP databases such as Lexis Nexis to use. Should the need arise, I will use databases while doing projects or research in my diploma. Currently, I'm a student of Mechantronic Enginneering.. There are subjects need us to do newspaper article analysis. It is to look through hardcopy newspaper to find a relevant topic to analyze on.

But by using a database such as Lexis Nexis, I can simply key in the dates to search between and the keywords relating to the topic I am researching on.

Practical 4&5 Reflection

Today I learn on a new search engine call "Meta Crawler"... But find it not so useful as only top few result is relevant to what i want to research. and the rest are out of the research...

Another search engine is "Google Scholar", it is built from citations in web pages and some journal publishers. It is abit different from Googles and Googles Scholar..

Pratical 3 Relection

It was so impressed by google's search functions. Google is very easy to use, as all you have to do is enter your search query. There alot of other way of enlarging the search is by adding some identify keywords and keyword variation relevant to the search.

I feel about participating in a discussion forum was quite interesting as i get to know the others and share thoughts. Discussion forum was very helpful in many way like know how people think abt the topic and they also can give their ideas..

I find it find when interacting with the others as making friends are better than making an enemy around you...

Stress!!!

Finally i feel so rest on school work.. Alot and alot of stuff is stacking up!!! But the time is running faster den clearing the stuff..

Wat really School help on student? Putting more stress and teaching on useless thing? Don really know why is Poly teaching something that it's will not help and you are out for work...
